Electromechanical Technology Grade 9: In this course, students will participate in a hands-on exploration of the basic concepts of electricity in AC and DC circuitry. Students will also study voltage, current, and resistance and the relationship of these quantities in Ohm's and Watt's laws pertaining to series and parallel circuits with resistors, capacitors, and inductors. Students will explore the topic of magnetism and electromagnetism and their application to transformers; relays; solenoids; DC motors and AC motors. Students will become competent in the use of Multisim Electronics Workbench and Automation Studio, which are used to design, simulate, and animate AC and DC circuits. Students will participate in laboratory experiences to create projects and use instruments to measure electrical quantities and safety procedures.

Electromechanical Technology Grade 10: In this course, students will participate in a hands-on course that develops their knowledge of analog and digital electronics. Students will review oscilloscope theory and operation and digital multimeter operation and develop a working knowledge of passive and active electronic components and testing. Students will construct and run circuit simulation of digital and analog circuits using Multism Electronics Workbench software and will also construct the circuit in the lab, verifying circuit operation using test meters and an oscilloscope. Students will also explore the application of AC and DC motors and their methods of speed control.
