Early Childhood Grade 10: In this course, students will create lesson and curriculum plans and arrange learning centers in the classroom. Students will continue to select work samples to add to their portfolio. Students learn ways to work with the young child that support the growth and development of the whole child from birth to preschool. Students will gain more responsibility in the WTHS preschool and will have opportunities to serve as the "teacher in charge."

Students will examine the impact social issues have on the lives of young children and their families and will investigate and identify community resources and professional services available to children and families in times of need. Students will study the laws that are in place to protect young children; review the signs of abuse and neglect; and learn their professional obligations with regard to work with families and reporting to authorities. Students will acquire the skills necessary to effectively advocate for children.
